Physical Development

In line with government guidelines, we are in the process of introducing and implementing programs in activity management, dietary management and behavioural modification.

We have successfully run educational classes in nutrition, health and hygiene which specifically cater for our predominantly vegetarian diet. It has also increased awareness of the increased occurrence of diabetes, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease within our community and how these can be reduced.

The children have also been offered yoga classes to promote a combination of mental and physical fitness.

A 30 minute physical activity period is incorporated into the school morning. The children have a variety of sports equipment available to use during this time. This is supervised by our sports secretary and supporting committee members.

Sports Events - Sports Day

Every summer term the school organises a Sports Day where all students take part and house teams compete against one another. Sporting events include a lime & spoon race, penalty shoot out and tug-of-war.  Participation in Sports Day enables students to work as a team, show sportsmanship and above all have a great deal of fun.  Each student in the winning team receives a medal each at the end of Sports Day.

House Teams

The house system was introduced in September 2007.  Students are placed in one of four house teams: Red, Blue, Green and White. Teachers allocate house points to students for high standard of work, making good progress and for good deeds. House points for respective teams may also be earned by participation in Sports Day. The system seems to be working well and the students are eager to know which team has got the most points.

At the end of the academic year a House Shield is awarded to the team who have achieved the most house points. So far the winners of the prestigious House Shield have been:
