Quality Kitemark Awarded to WHG Gujarati School in July 2010 for achieving Standard in Education

During 2009/2010 the Gujarati school embarked upon a process of working towards its very 1st kitemark for Quality Standard in Education (QiSS). QiSS is a national recognition scheme which provides public recognition that the standards embodied within the scheme’s framework are being met. In July 2010 the WHG Gujarati School in partnership with the Watford Boys Grammar School successfully gained the QiSS kitemark. We were one of the first Gujarati Schools in Hertfordshire and the South East to achieve this and the first partnership with a mainstream school in England to do so. This is what the organisers of QiSS had to say:

"I wanted to write and congratulate the Watford Hindu Gujarati School and your Critical Friend on the excellent result. The scrutineers were so impressed to read and hear about the way you organise your school to support your children and their families to develop their Gujarati, cultural identity, confidence and self esteem. Also, the way you identified the need to update teaching methods to improve engagement and participation by working closely with the staff at Watford Boys Grammar School.
I would like to acknowledge the support of your critical friend and the excellent partnership working evidenced throughout the developmental process with Watford Boys Grammar School.

Achieving National QiSS Emerged Status means:
"Practice in your school illustrates aspects of well-run Extended Learning/Study Support opportunities in which a visitor would expect to find clarity of purpose, coherent planning and a range of provision. The needs of the children and the community context will have been investigated and used to inform provision. Future developments will have been mapped out."
